TWA: The end of a line... 1 December 2001

Sunset began and night was soon to fall for TWA as fathers and sons seemed to watch patiently for the last rites.

Others may have wondered if some flights were bound for nowhere.

While the last official Flight 2 from Honolulu is not due to land in St. Louis until early Sunday morning, TWA President Bill Compton flew an MD83 on a ceremonial Flight 220 from Kansas City into St. Louis' Lambert Airport. The flight left at 1:37 p.m. (3 minutes early) and arrived at 2:40 p.m. (5 minutes early).

Other carriers continued their business as usual.

those same fathers and sons share some quiet moments,

and the St. Louis skies hold the last images...
