visiting Western Illinois
University (5-2-1) in a non conference match at Robert R.
Hermann Stadium before a crowd of 1,667 in St. Louis. The Billikens
trailed early in the first half but were able to take the lead
on goals by freshman forward Vedad Ibisevic (9) and freshman
midfielder John DiRaimondo (8) until a late penalty kick awarded
to the Leathernecks resulted in a 2-2 halftime score. WIU scored
twice in the second half but freshman midfielder Will John (13)
got SLU back into the match with two second half goals. The score
remained tied after two overtime periods. Junior goalkeeper Martin
Hutton (1) had 7 saves for the Billikens. |
