win over Loyola University
(0-0-0) at Hermann Stadium before a crowd of 1,169 on a warm
summer evening in St. Louis. Loyola Ramblers took an early 1-0
lead in the first 2 minutes of play on a goal by junior forward
Bill Metzger (2) but the score was soon tied on the first of
two goals by freshman midfielder Will John (13). The Billikens
built the lead to 3-1 on a penalty kick by freshman forward Vedad
Ibisevic (9) and 4-1 on a late first-half score by freshman midfielder
David Peplinski (11). Two late second-half goals by Loyola closed
out the scoring but preserved the victory for the host Billikens.
SLU out-shot Loyola 19-11 and had a 5-4 advantage in corner kicks. |
