SIUC (18-9, 12-4) extended their winning streak to six games and gained a share of the MVC lead with a convincing victory against visiting Indiana State University (19-8, 12-4) before a season-high turnout of 8,100+ fans in the SIU arena. SIU was led by freshman guard Kent Williams (33) with 25 points. The defensive match ups worked to SIU's advantage as 4 of 5 starters for Indiana State were held under their season averages. Nate Green was the one exception; he scored 21 points in a losing effort. SIU enjoyed an easy 80-61 victory with two games remaining before the MVC championship.


SIU's senior center Derrick Tilmon (42) gave a resounding signal to the visiting Sycamores with an opening minute slam dunk. Tilmon finished with 6 points and 7 rebounds.


SIU freshman forward Jermaine Dearman (23) saw extended playing time when Joshua Cross injured himself early in the game. Dearman contributed 9 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Sycamore junior guard Michael Menser (5) was held to 5 points by the defensive effort of Saluki senior guard Ricky Collum (5). Collum scored 13 points for the Salukis to go along with 6 rebounds and 6 assists.

Saluki sophomore guard Brandon Mells (3) tried unsuccessfully to contain Indiana State senior guard Nate Green (4). Green finished with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 4 steals. Mells played just 14 minutes as he collected 4 fouls.

SIU freshman guard Kent Williams (33) gets fouled while scoring a 2-pt basket. Williams scored a game-high 25 points and assisted on 4 plays. Williams was effective as a result of the defensive match-ups during the game.


Saluki junior guard Abel Schrader (45) contributed 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists in 25 minutes of action. Schrader saw extended play as a result of injury to Joshua Cross (12) and foul trouble with Brandon Mells (3).
