SIUC (8-7) won despite of a poor second half against visiting Drake University (7-9) before an average sized home crowd. The Salukis got off to a characteristic 7-2 lead against the Bulldogs and built a convincing 43-18 half-time advantage through the outside shooting efforts of Chris Thunell and Monte Jenkins (game high 20 points). The second half was disappointing; the Salukis struggled to put 26 points on the scoreboard, while allowing Drake to narrow the lead to 14 points with 7:12 remaining in the game. The Salukis hit a couple of 3-point shots at the end to give them a 69-52 victory.
