Saint Louis University Billikens (0-0, 0-0) in their first exhibition game of the new season defeated the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Lions (0-0, 0-0) 79-51 at the Chaifetz Arena (reported paid attendance = n/a). At present, this year's team fields four sophomores and seven freshman, with the lone junior (Paul Eckerle) out for the year due to a knee injury. The Billikens were led by sophomore center Willie Reed (19 pts, 7 rebounds), freshman forward Jon Smith (10 pts, 7 rebounds), sophomore guard Kyle Cassity (9 pts), and freshman guard Christian Salecich (9 pts, 5 assists, 3 steals). The Lions, in their first year of Division II play, were led by junior forward Josh Simmons (11 pts, 3 steals) and freshman center Dean Neville (9 pts).
