Saint Louis University Billikens (19-10, 10-5) ran out of steam in their 57-51 loss to #16 (ESPN/USA Today)/#20 (AP) Temple University Owls (25-5, 13-2) at the Chaifetz Arena (reported paid attendance = 7984 for the last regular season home game). SLU remains one game shy of its first 20-win season under Coach Majerus. Temple held a 27-26 lead at the half and were able to wear the Billikens down at the end and take advantage of their free-throw imbalance.. The Billikens were led by sophomore forward Willie Reed (16 pts, 4 rebounds), freshman guard Christian Salecich (10 pts), freshman forward Cody Ellis (7 pts), and sophomore guard Kwamain Mitchell (7 pts, 4 rebounds). The Owls were led by junior forward Lavoy Allen (18 pts, 14 rebounds), sophomore guard Juan Fernandez (17 pts), senior guard Ryan Brooks (13 pts), sophomore guard Ramone Moore (5 pts, 4 rebounds, 3 assists), and senior guard Luis Guzman (4 pts, 8 rebounds, 4 assists). Saint Louis shot 42% from the field (21% from 3-pt range) and 67% (4-6) from the charity line. Temple shot 45% from the field (33% from 3-pt range) and 77% (13-17) from the charity line. The Billikens had 23 rebounds (4O, 19D), 12 assists, 2 steals, 2 blocked shots, and 9 turnovers as compared with 36 rebounds (10O, 26D), 10 assists, 3 steals, 2 blocked shots, and 12 turnovers by the Owls.
