Saint
Louis University Billikens (2-1) appeared ready for Thanksgiving
by shooting down the Boston
College Eagles (3-1) 53-50 at the Chaifetz
Arena (reported attendance = 9,127). The game brought back
memories of the deliberate approach characteristic of the Soderberg
years with a tempered influx of freshman mistakes along with
stretches of fine defense. The first half ended tied 23-23 with
neither team's leading scorer contributing to the offense. Late
in the second half, SLU senior Kevin Lisch caught fire and led
the Billikens on towards victory. SLU was led by senior guard
Kevin Lisch (15 pts), freshman forward Brian Conklin (11 pts,
9 rebounds), senior guard Tommie Liddell, III (9 pts, 9 rebounds),
and freshman center Willie Reed (8 points, 8 rebounds). Saint
Louis shot 38% from the field (25% from 3-pt range) and 75% (15-20)
from the charity line. The Eagles were led by sophomore forward
Corey Raji (22 pts, 7 rebounds) and freshman guard Reggie Jackson
(10 pts). BC shot 33% from the field (19% from 3-pt range) and
58% (11-19) from the charity line. The Billikens had 43 rebounds
(16O, 27D), 7 assists, 6 steals, 2 blocked shots, and 16 turnovers
as compared with 32 rebounds (15O, 17D), 8 assists, 6 steals,
0 blocked shots, and 13 turnovers by the Eagles. |
