SLU Billikens (9-7, 0-2) regrouped from a lackluster record-setting performance (where they scored 20 points against George Washington University) and challenged #17 University of Dayton Flyers (14-1, 2-0) for 40 minutes only to fade in overtime with a 68-57 loss (11,108 reported attendance at Scottrade Center). Billikens junior guards Tommie Liddell, III (18 pts, 5 rebounds) and Kevin Lisch (13 pts, 4 assists) and senior forward Luke Meyer (19 pts, 6 rebounds) matched offensive skills with Flyers senior guard Brian Robert (30 pts), junior forward Charles Little (16 pts, 4 rebounds), and senior forward Jimmy Binnie (7 pts). The Billikens shot 42% from the field (29% from 3-pt range) and 73% (11-15) from the charity line. The University of Dayton shot 44% from the field (35% from 3-pt range) and 70% (19-27) from the charity line. SLU had 24 rebounds (3O, 21D), 10 assists, 6 steals, 1 blocked shot, and 12 turnovers as compared with 39 rebounds (11O, 28D), 8 assists, 4 steal, 3 blocked shots, and 13 turnovers by the University of Dayton.

Liddell scored 18 points and collected 5 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 turnovers. Little finished with 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 turnovers. SLU junior guard and Belleville native Kevin Lisch (21) goes up against Dayton sophomore guard Marcus Johnson (32). Lisch finished with 13 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 turnovers while Johnson collected 1 point, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 turnovers. Billikens guard Kevin Lisch (21) defends against Flyers senior guard Andres Sandoval (3) who managed just 3 points and 4 rebounds.

 

 

SLU junior forward Luke Meyer (32) defends Dayton junior forward Charles Little (15). Meyer finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 turnover, and 3 steals. Little collected 16 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 turnovers. Dayton senior guard Brian Roberts scored a game high 30 points to go with 2 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 turnovers, and 1 blocked shot. Billikens senior guard Danny Brown (1) fights for position against Flyers senior forward Jimmy Binnie (33). Brown collected 3 points and 2 rebounds while Binnie finished with 7 points, 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers, and 1 steal.
