Louis University Billikens (10-8, 1-3) and the Temple
University Owls (8-8, 2-1) played a close game through two
halves and an exciting overtime but it was the Owls pulling out
a 54-53 victory at the Scottrade Center (reported attendance,
9341). The Billikens shot poorly and had a few too many turnovers
late in the game. The Billikens were led by junior guards Kevin
Lisch (17 pts, 4 rebounds, 4 turnovers) and Tommie Liddell, III
(12 pts, 9 rebounds, 4 turnovers) and senior forward Luke Meyer
(9 pts, 7 rebounds). Saint Louis shot 38% from the field (31%
from 3-pt range) and 91% (10-11) from the charity line. The Owls
were led by junior guard Dionte Christmas (20 pts, 5 turnovers),
freshman forward Laroy Allen (8 pts, 8 rebounds), senior guard
Mark Tyndale (7 pts, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocked shots,
2 steals), and senior guard Chris Clark (7 pts). Rhode Island
shot 35% from the field (31% from 3-pt range) and 83% (5-6) from
the charity line. The Billikens had 38 rebounds (8O, 30D), 10
assists, 3 steals, 3 blocked shots, and 15 turnovers as compared
with 33 rebounds (9O, 24D), 12 assists, 5 steals, 8 blocked shots,
and 10 turnovers by the Owls. |
