The DePaul University Blue Demons (15-5, 7-2) handed the SLU Billikens (5-16, 3-6) their fourth straight loss, a close 56-53 contest at the Savvis Center (reported attendance, 7,635). With a losing regular season record virtually guaranteed, the Billikens tried another starting lineup and trailed at the half 26-25. SLU was led by freshman guard Dwayne Polk (16 pts), sophomore center Ian Vouyoukas (10 pts, 5 rebounds), and freshman guard Luke Meyer (9 pts). SLU needs to make more shots, baskets and free throws, plain and simple. The Billikens shot 47% from the field (27% from 3-pt range) and 67% from the charity line. The Blue Demons were led by senior forward Quemont Greer (16 pts), sophomore guard Sammy Mejia (15 pts), and senior guard Drake Diener (12 pts). DePaul shot 39% from the field (31% from 3-pt range) and 67% from the charity line. SLU had 24 rebounds (6O, 18D), 11 assists, 7 steals, 4 blocked shots, and 9 turnovers as compared with 36 rebounds (17O, 19D), 10 assists, 6 steals, 4 blocked shots, and 10 turnovers by DePaul.

SLU freshman and local St. Louis recruit Dwayne Polk (00) played very well defensively collecting 3 steals while leading the team with 16 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Billikens sophomore center Ian Vouyoukas (15) scored 10 points and collected 5 rebounds.

Blue Demons sophomore guard Sammy Mejia (11) scored 15 points to go with 4 rebounds and 4 assists. Billikens freshman guard Luke Meyer (32) saw plenty of playing time, resulting in 9 points.

DePaul senior guard Drake Diener (33) scored 12 points to go with 3 rebounds and 3 assists.
