SLU (6-9, 0-2) dropped their seventh straight and second C-USA game 70-55 to the University of Houston (12-2, 2-0) at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center (reported attendance, 565). Houston got off to a quick start and a comfortable 35-25 halftime lead behind the shooting of senior guard Chandi Jones and the rebounding of junior forward Sancho Lyttle. Houston extended their lead in the second half, never letting the smaller Billikens back into the contest. SLU was led by senior guard Kirsti Holloway (18 pts), sophomore center Lakrisha Brown (12 pts, 10 rebounds), senior forward Angie Lewis (11 pts, 6 rebounds, 7 turnovers), and Shea Kenny (6 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 turnovers). SLU shot 36% from the field (67% from 3-pt range) and 44% from the charity line. SLU had 42 rebounds (16O, 26D), 20 assists, 20 turnovers, 1 blocked shot, and 5 steals. The Cougars were led by Jones (26 pts), junior guard Joann Overstreet (14 pts), and Lyttle (11 pts, 14 rebounds). Houston shot 40% from the field (43% from 3-pt range) and 68% from the charity line. The Cougars had 44 rebounds (15O, 29D), 11 assists, 13 turnovers, 7 blocked shots, and 9 steals.


Billikens sophomore center Lakrisha Brown (52) scored 12 points and pulled down 10 rebounds.

SLU senior forward Angie Lewis (50) was able to score 11 points to go with 6 rebounds and 1 assist but had 7 turnovers. Houston senior guard Chandi Jones (13) goes for the block. Jones led all scorers with 26 points.


Billikens senior guard Kirsti Holloway (33) led the team with 18 points. Holloway had 1 rebound and 4 assists. Cougars junior guard Joann Overstreet (20) contributed 14 points to the Houston victory.
