SLU (17-12, 8-6) wrapped up regular season play with a 69-63 win over C-USA-leading University of Cincinnati (21-6, 11-3) at the Bauman-Eberhardt Center (reported attendance, 734). The Billikens, who are having their best season under coach Jill Pizzotti, were down by two points at the half (37-35) and were led back by senior guard Harmonie King (22) with 16 points and junior guard Jana Haywood (24) with 11 points. Junior forward Angie Lewis (50) and senior guard Star Jackson (25) contributed 10 and 9 points, respectively. SLU shot 48% from the field, 50% from 3-point range and 73% from the charity line. The Billikens had 19 assists, 39 rebounds, 11 turnovers, 1 blocked shots and 3 steals. The Bearcats had four starters in double figures. Sophomore center Debbie Merrill (31) led the team with 19 points, followed by senior guard K. B. Sharp (32) and junior guard Valerie King (34) with 16 and 14 points, respectively, and senior forward Carolyn Alexander (4) with 12 points. Cincinnati shot 40% from the field, 32% from 3-point range and 50% from the free-throw line. The Bearcats had 14 assists, 37 rebounds and 8 turnovers. SLU carries a three-game winning streak into the C-USA tournament.


SLU senior guard Harmonie King (22) led the team with 16 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Cincinnati junior guard Valerie King (34) scored 14 points and collected 4 rebounds and 2 assists.
